Things I Wrote
I started going to a university this week. It's a religious university. I am not particularly religious, but I'm not ant-religion either. This is the type of university that requires a pledge from their on campus students. It states that they will not drink or have sex as long as they are living on campus. I am considered an adult student so this pledge is "highly suggested, but not required". I can live with suggested but not required. I'm kind of a live and let live person.
The only problem is that I went to class on Tuesday and have a sheet of 75 questions I have to complete for next weeks class. This sheet has 75 statements and you have to say whether you strongly disagree, disagree, are neutral, agree, or strongly agree. Let me give you a sample of these statements.
1. It is always wrong to engage in sexual relations outside of marriage.
This doesn't seem to be a very "live and let live" type questionnaire. I'm not quite sure how to fill it out. If I answer the questions the way I really feel (especially the ones about homosexuality and the Bible as absolute truth) will this negatively impact my experience at this school? I am thinking at the moment I will put neutrals across the board. During the first class they actually offered to let anyone who was uncomfortable with prayer step out of the room before class. This means they have to be a little understanding of different points of view, right?
