Things I Wrote
There are a couple of places where he talks about his children. Here are two quotes from the article-
"I have seven kids, four of them adopted." and "I put my big question about life to my biological son Mark."
I have one brother. I am adopted, he is my parent's biological child. My parents have never made us feel different from each other. They do not tell anyone "We have one biological child and one adopted child" or refer to me as "our adopted daughter, Sara." We have always been their children, Sara and Jeff and the fact that i'm adopted has never been a big deal.
I have a problem with people who feel the need to separate their children like this. There are only two reasons I can think of that a person would do this, neither of them good. The first reason is almost to brag. "Oh, I have four kids, two of them are adopted." meaning "I am such a wonderful and gracious person i opened my home to these poor poor orphans. Now bow down and worship me as a superior human being."
The other reason is because the parent feels there is some difference between the children. Like the adopted child is just a little less their child than their biological one. People who feel this way shouldn't be adopting children anyway.
