Things I Wrote
I know that I have posted on this topic before, but I apparently left some confusion in my wake, so I thought that I would try and simplify things a bit, or at least explain them a little more.
There are some things I want to be lied about, but not lied about to my face. I prefer the lie of ommission. If I ask a direct question I want the truth.
Second part-if you have already lied to me, and gotten away with the lie, I DON'T WANT A CONFESSION! This doesn't mean i wanted the initial lie, but when you confess I have to face the thing you lied about(and face it, if that were going to be a happy thing the lie wouldn't have been there in the first place) AND the fact that you lied to me, and all so that you can feel better about having "confessed". Why do that to me? It is twice as cruel as the lie was.
so I prepared this list in how i would like to be lied to(or told the truth to)in order of preference-
1. Lie of ommission. Don't ask, don't tell. This is acceptable.
(there is one exception to this, but it is to be used in extremely rare circumstance, and in the wrong hands would be a complete misuse of this rule so i will actually keep that exception to myself for now.)
2. If I ask a direct question-tell the truth.
3. The truth voluntarily-this is not as preferable as the first two
options, but if you are going to volunteer information about your
plans, at least don't volunteer a lie.
4. A lie that you are never caught in.
5. A lie you told, and are caught in, and didn't confess to. At least I
would know you weren't doing the godawful confession thing. And if
you think I am getting close to the truth, just let me catch you. I
will feel a lot better than if you try the old save yourself by
confession thing.
6. A lie that you are never caught in and then CONFESS damnit! WHY WHY WHY!?! This is selfish, to relieve your own conscience. The only other reason people do this is to try a last ditch save yourself effort if I am close to catching the truth. Face it, either way the motives are selfish.
Now I suspect that most women who read this(and hey, maybe men too) will have the knee jerk reaction of "Oh, that's not true for me! I always want the truth!" Frankly, I think 90% of the people who say that are lying. I have met a lot more people who say, "If only I didn't know!" than people who say, "Well, at least he told me." If you think you are one of the rare 10% (really, I think more like 1% but I am trying to be opotimistic) you are either extremely emotionally balanced, or you are incredibly good at lying to yourself.
